An important development took place late last year in Podgorica – the Film Centre of Montenegro has been established, as yet another country in the region to have an autonomous specialised film agency, like the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, which makes it a great occasion to dedicate one of this year’s side events to this country, under the title of Focus: Montenegro. In parallel with the establishment of the Film Centre, the films made by new generations of Montenegrin filmmakers have been selected for prestigious European festivals, proving that there is a new, vibrant and exciting scene being born in our neighbouring country.
