House of Others, Winner of Karlovy Vary, Tonight at Europa Cinema
At 7pm, Europa Cinema is screening the Georgian-Russian-Spanish-Croatian co-production House of Others, a poetic autobiographic piece by Rusudan Glurjidze, compared by the critics with great masters like Ingmar Bergman and Andrei Tarkovsky. The film will be presented to the Zagreb audience by actress Ekaterine Japaridze.
In the early 1990s, civil war in Georgia led to the separation of Abkhazia as an independent state. Many people had to leave home and leave everything behind, and the abandoned houses got new tenants – the victorious side. House of Others is a story about these winners.
In the East of the West section in Karlovy Vary, the film won the best film award and is also the Georgian Oscar candidate.
