The third ZFF day brings two feature films from the main program to Tuškanac Cinema. Beanpole, directed by Kantemir Balagov, was awarded the Best Director Award at the Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and is the current Russian Oscar contender. This powerful and at times painful story about survival in the most difficult circumstances was inspired by World War 2 stories of Russian women and can be seen at 9:30 AM and 5 PM.

Screenings at 12.30 PM and 8 PM are reserved for De Patrick. Who would guess that a search for a stolen hammer in a nudist camp can be as exciting as a most intense thriller? This Belgian dark humor drama directed by Tim Mielants (Peaky Blinders) with Jemaine Clement and a nude ensemble proves it can!

In the Together Again program in Tuškanac Cinema at 10.30 PM we will screen the Brazilian film Divine Love. This neon drama from one of the currently most interesting Latin American directors, Gabriel Mascaro, combines gospel and eroticism in an important story about religion and power. The year is 2027 and Brazil is quickly sinking into a religious dystopia in which public scanners tell everyone which woman is pregnant and people go to drive-in confessionals on their way home.

The side program Two Berlins – Films Across the Wall brings two films to KIC Hall: B-Movie: Lust and Sound in West Berlin 1979-1989 by Jörg A. Hoppe, Heiko Lange, and Klaus Maeck follows the music scene of West Berlin in the ‘80s. And at 9 PM we have Rabbit à la Berlin directed by Bartosz Konopka after which there will be a panel about the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The panel will be moderated by historian Hrvoje Klasić, PhD. At 7 PM, in the Fragments of the Exile program we will screen The Promise, a painful story about growing up, partly inspired by The Brothers Karamazov by F. M. Dostoyevski, with which the Dardenne brothers received international acclaim.

The Bib for Kids program, aimed at primary school kids, continues at Dubrava Public University. The thirteenth edition of Bib for Kids is dedicated to ecology and it is inspired by the global youth climate movement. From 11 AM we have the Dutch film Taiki from director Mirjam de With whose little hero accidentally realizes that the real world is much more exciting and magical than the virtual one. At 7 PM at the same place don’t miss out on Our Mothers, directed by the Guatemalan director Cesar Diaz.

The County, an Icelandic film directed by Grímur Hákonarson (Together Again program), is compared to the cinema hit Three Posters Outside Ebbing, Missouri and it will be screened at Travno Cultural Centre at 7 PM, and morning hours in that local cinema are reserved for film lovers aged 3+ and a program of short films First Time at the Cinema.
