18th edition of ZFF begins online today!

For the first time online and on screens at home around Croatia, the 18th Zagreb Film Festival will be held from 8th to 15th November on platforms kinoeuropa.hr and croatian.film, and on the official web page 2020.zff.hr.

At 6 PM on Sunday, festival director Boris T. Matić and executive producer Hrvoje Laurenta will open the festival via live stream on the festival’s official web page and Facebook page @zagrebfilmfestival, followed by the screening of Father. The film was directed by one of the most important Serbian directors of today, Srdan Golubović, and it is shown outside of competition at ZFF. The film will be available to ticketholders around Croatian until Monday, 6 PM.

In the film, which critics dub “the Balkan version of Paris, Texas”, Goran Bogdan impressed in the lead role of a desperate father, who from a marginalized loser becomes the hero of our age. Father premiered in the Panorama program of Berlinale where it won the audience’s and Ecumenical Jury award, continuing the global success of the director’s previous film, Circles. In Pula, Father won the best actor award (Goran Bogdan) and the Golden Gate Award as the first film in the history of that festival with an average audience score of 5,0.

Despite this year’s lack of live events caused by the current epidemiological situation, the number of great films from around the world is unchanged. There is around a hundred films in four competition programs – feature, international short film, domestic short film, Checkers, and Together Again program, and two side programs – The Great 5 and Festivals in the Spotlight – as well as KinoKino Festival program, which is held under the banner of ZFF this year. Most of the lectures from the Industry program, a platform for the education and networking of professionals, will be open for public and available via online streaming on the official web page, www.2020.zff.hr, and social media.

The online edition has its characteristics so films from the Main program – feature and short film competitions and Together Again program, as well as those from The Great 5, Festivals in the Spotlight and KinoKino Festival will be shown at www.kinoeuropa.hr, and the competition program for domestic short films, Checkers, will be available on the croatian.film platform.

Films will be available in a 24-hour period, from 6 PM on premiere day until 6 PM the following day, and will be available only in the Republic of Croatia.

A ticket for a single film will be 26 HRK for feature films from the competition program, Together Again, and The Great 5. Tickets for films from the KinoKino Festival program will be 20 HRK.
